User Experience and Interaction Design for XR
In this section, you learn the interaction, technology, and human factors that need to be considered when creating new user experiences for XR technologies. We will be covering the Mixed Reality Spectrum, Human-Centered Design in XR, Best Practices and Patterns in XR Design, and Usability Considerations.
By the end of the section, you will have a broad understanding of the complete XR design process and know different paths to become an XR creator.
Introduction to Unity
It is time to get familiar with a tool that will bring your XR concepts to life: Unity. In this section, you will learn the main components of the Unity Editor and get some practical experience. By the end of this section, you will know how to create and manipulate objects in Unity and import and configure assets used to create virtual worlds.
Prototyping Virtual Worlds
Now that you are familiar with Unity, it is time to create virtual worlds. In this section, we are going to walk you through Unity's Terrain Tools and ProBuilder to show you how you can easily create landscapes or block out your environments to build digital worlds in the blink of an eye.
Prototyping VR Interactions in Unity
Let’s bring interactions to our world. In this section, you will learn how to integrate the XR Interaction Toolkit in your project to build a VR Rig, add locomotion, and create objects that can be grabbed and thrown away.
Creating Immersive Visual Effects
Visual Effects can make your XR experience even more memorable. In this section, you will learn how to use Lighting, Shaders, Particles, and other Unity features that will empower you to create beautiful VFX (and some SFX) in real-time.
Immersive Storytelling in XR
Immersive storytelling can create a compelling sense of presence. In this section, you’ll learn the key features and fundamental workflows of Timeline and Cinemachine to make cutscenes with animations and camera changes.
Prototyping AR Interactions in Unity
In this section, you will learn how to use Vuforia and Unity MARS streamlined workflow to quickly prototype and build AR applications that are interactive and contextually aware. By the end of this section, you will be able to test your applications in the Editor as well as push them to Android and iOS devices.
Implement Immersive and Augmented Interfaces
XR is an advanced technology that may be intimidating to some users. In this section, you will learn how to use the Unity UI System to create effective user interfaces that foster an engaging and comfortable experience in XR.
